Hi lovelies! We’re back with a second post about our recent trip to New York. Today it’s all about the city’s retail delights.
New York is shopping heaven. No matter what you’re looking for, you’re sure to find it somewhere among the city’s many shopping precincts. Fifth Avenue is the go-to location for high end designer wares along with many of the major high street fashion chains (H&M, ZARA, Topshop and the like) or…. Pop down to Soho for a more eclectic shopping experience along smaller cobbled streets or…. take a wander around the West Village for a chic but chilled out shop.
There are two shops that we really want to tell you about today.
We’d so been looking forward to visiting Jonathan Adler’s flagship Soho store (53 Greene Street, Soho) and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Upon entering the store you really can’t help feeling happy. His furniture and homewares are just so fun, colourful and irreverent, yet somehow manage to maintain the chic. Design Nerd Alert: He also supports Australian artists – we spied several of Leila Jeffreys’ magnificent photographs for sale in store.
Sigh. Anthropologie has that effortless ‘cool girl’ vibe that has us wishing we could completely makeover our wardrobe. We’ll have one of those, and one of those, and two of those. You get the drift. We visited the Rockefeller Center store (50 Rockefeller Center) and while there are several others throughout New York (and beyond), it still manages to achieve more of a boutique look and feel. So many pretty things…it was a shame we’d already shopped up a storm earlier in the week. They also stock a fabulous range of decorating goodies and kitchenware. We picked up a super cute 2014 calendar by Rifle Paper Co which is now on our kitchen wall. FYI: Anthropologie ships to Australia. Thank us later.
We hope you’ve enjoyed these New York posts and that you all get there one day, if you haven’t been already. It’s everything you could imagine, and more.
Have a lovely night. x
