And we’re off and racing…

Melbourne Cup Day action

Can you believe it’s November next week lovelies?! What better way to kick off the month than with Melbourne Cup Day festivities next Tuesday. It really is the race that stops the nation…even if you’d normally rather watch paint dry than a horse race, chances are you’ll have at least a mild interest in the Cup.

So what’s everyone doing for it? You lucky little things down in Victoria have a public holiday (jealous). Up here in Sydney just about every bar and restaurant has a Cup Day lunch event. What a great excuse to throw on your glad rags and fascinator or hat and enjoy a glass of bubbly. Even if you have to work, most organisations wheel out the telly and put on a few nibblies and champers. There’s no excuse not to get dressed up lovelies! Last year the company we were working for even ordered Melbourne Cup themed cupcakes from My Little Cupcake.

Then of course there are the celebrities. As well as homegrown fashion faves such as Megan Gale and Jennifer Hawkins, this year Kim Kardashian and Sarah Jessica Parker are also attending spring racing events. We know, we know – it’s a bit controversial to have these international superstars come out for this Aussie event when they most likely know nothing about the event but it’s a bit of fashion fun, right? Let’s not take it too seriously. Can’t wait to see what SJP wears!

Whatever you’re doing, we hope you have a fab Cup Day. If you need some inspiration for your headwear, don’t forget to have a read of our previous post Giddiup! It’s spring carnival racing time.

Have a lovely day. x.
